Gregory K. Crapo
Grand Marshal, 2012
Currently the Executive Director of Catholic Charities and Director of de l’Epee Deaf Center, Greg is well known for his leadership and years of dedicated service to his community.
Besides his seemingly tireless work with the deaf community and Catholic Charities, Greg currently serves on the MS Gulf Coast Community College Advisory Committee, co-chairs the Sea and Sun Camp and serves on the Board of Directors for the Biloxi Lions Club. For his outstanding work with the Lions Club, he was installed in the MS Lions Hall of Fame, and is an International Life Member.
Quota selected Greg to lead our parade for his passionate dedication to helping others. His heartfelt compassion and eagerness to promote deaf awareness and education (Quota’s #1 mission) is an inspiration to those who work with him and are fortunate enough to know him as a friend.
Asked about his Irish heritage, he replied, “Growing up in a Catholic environment and attending Nativity B.V.M. Elementary School, the Irish Priests and nuns were my first interaction with people from a foreign country. These people were my mentors and role models from a very early age and I came to love them as a people for their patience and compassion, their fun loving happy attitudes, their logic and understanding and most of all for their love of people. To be representing them is an honor I can never fully live up to, but with their blessing I will do my best to be ‘ad finem fidelis’ (Faithful to the End).”
